Born and raised in the Netherlands, photographer Christiaan Blok developed his eye for the natural world early in life. His family’s home near The Hague offered him many indelible landscapes: the dunes leading to the sea; a series of large flower gardens; and the woods nearby. Blok studied filmmaking and worked briefly editing films in Los Angeles. He turned to still photography and established himself as a significant shelter photographer. Since 1998, his work has been featured in Traditional Home, Southern Accents, Western Interiors & Design, and Phoenix Home & Garden. In 2008, Blok was awarded First Place by North American Travel Journalists Association with ‘Desert Oasis’ in the category of Architecture and Facility photography. He also shoots for Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, and Ritz-Carlton resorts.
