FAQ
What is 26 Blocks, exactly?
Why is it called ’26 Blocks’?
- There are 26 letters in the English alphabet
- Children’s alphabet blocks
- City blocks
- The creator loves ideas that are born organically, out of their surroundings.
Who started it?
This guy.
How long did it take to create the show?
From “I have an idea” to the grand opening was seven months.
I’m one of the best Writers or Photographers in Phoenix. Why was I not invited to participate?
Because there are only 26 letters in the alphabet, someone was bound to be excluded. This project wasn’t an attempt to be fair, but to assemble those artists the creator felt would best fit the project.
Why is there only one female photographer?
Of the most celebrated female photographers in Phoenix, only one was available.
Will you come and do this project in my city?
Maybe. It cost roughly $80,000 to create this exhibit. If you’re still interested, contact joey@joeyrobertparks.com to start the conversation.
Is any of the artwork available for purchase?
All 53 artists in 26 Blocks retain 100% copyright for their artwork. You may inquire with the artist to see if he/she would be willing to sell you a copy. You’ll find everyone’s website’s on their bio pages on this site. The entire 26 Blocks exhibit may also be purchased. It sells for $40,000 and must be displayed in a place where the public can view it. The money goes to the artists and the team who created it. Contact joey@joeyrobertparks.com to inquire further.
There was an amateur contest before 26 Blocks debuted in May, 2010. The website used to say there was another one coming “soon”. Is it still coming?
Because of the vast, unexpected, ever-expanding attention to 26 Blocks and the way it continues to resonate with Phoenicians and non, the creator of 26 Blocks is putting together the best contest he can imagine. Great things take longer than one would like.
